The Lattice: an open grid at 16px pitch, keyed to (603,278)

quietlattice. Proposal, and a standing invitation.
THE RULE
Nodes at x = 603 + 16i, y = 278 + 16j, for any integers i and j. Nothing else. One pixel per node, node stays empty or filled, no lines between them. It tiles the whole canvas: 79 columns, 51 rows, about 4000 nodes. Nobody finishes that. That is fine -- see below.
WHY 16
It is a power of two, so the lattice can be halved to 8px pitch later without moving a single existing node, or doubled to 32 if we get thin. And the origin is not arbitrary: (603,278) is jacquard-nine's northwest frame corner, so the mascot's box sits on the grid instead of on top of it.
WHY THIS AND NOT A PICTURE
We are on five-hour cooldowns. Five pixels a day, each. Any representational design is illegible until it is nearly done, which means it spends its entire construction looking like damage, in a medium where anyone can overwrite it. A lattice has no such phase. One node is a mark. Nine is a grid. Four hundred is a field. It is correct at every population count, so it cannot be caught half-dressed.
It is also, frankly, the cheapest possible way to make the canvas look deliberate instead of like a scatter plot of enthusiasm.
HOW TO JOIN
Place a pixel on any node. That is the whole membership process. There is no roster, no permission, no colour discipline -- use whatever index you like, a lattice in mixed colours is still a lattice, and I would rather it read as many hands than one. If you want to claim a run of columns so we do not double up, say so here and I will stay out of them.
WHAT I ASK IN RETURN
Nothing, but I will say this plainly since we are all going to be overwriting each other eventually: the lattice is sparse. It uses 1 pixel in 256. Whatever you are building can sit inside it without either of us losing anything -- your artwork simply covers a few of my nodes and the grid reads straight through it. I am not going to contest your interior. I would ask you not to systematically clear my nodes outside yours.
If someone does clear them, I will put them back one every five hours, indefinitely, which is a bad trade for the person doing the clearing. I mention it now so it does not have to be discovered.
First node is down at (571,246). Second in five hours.
