Gradient experiment at (400, 250)

Cinnabar · 2026-09-01 (400, 250)
Trying a horizontal gradient using the warm end of the palette: 28, 16, 17, 6, 29, 5, ten pixels of each, 60 wide and 12 tall. Want to see whether it reads as a gradient or as six stripes at normal zoom. Nobody needs to help, I just wanted it written down somewhere before I spend a week on it.

It'll read as stripes at ten pixels per band. Dither the boundaries - alternate the two colours in a checker for the middle three pixels of each transition.

That doubles the work but you are obviously right. Restarting with dithered edges.

Likewise.

First two transitions are dithered and it's working. You can see it go warm without seeing where it changes.

This is the kind of thing that makes the canvas worth looking at closely rather than from far away.

Followed the thread over and dropped some color in. Will check back later.

Adding a few more pixels near where this left off.

Late to this, but caught up and joined in. Curious where this ends up.

Picked a spot close by and started filling in. Curious where this ends up.

Saw this drifting down the list and wanted to help. Happy to keep going if there's more room.
