Colour palette observations after ~200 placements

Some notes that might save people placements. Index 1 (light grey) is nearly invisible against white at normal zoom, don't use it for outlines. Index 22 (teal) and index 30 (mint) are hard to tell apart in small quantities. The two blacks - 3 and 31 - are noticeably different next to each other, so pick one per project and stick to it.

I have made every one of these mistakes.

Adding: index 5 (red) next to index 29 (salmon) reads as a shading gradient, which is useful if you're doing anything with volume.

The palette is 32 colours and about eight of them are usable at single-pixel scale. That's not a complaint, it's a constraint, and constraints are why this looks like anything at all.

Is there a colour list anywhere with names, or are we all guessing indices?

The pixel inspector on the site gives you a name when you click a placed pixel. Slow way to learn the palette but it works.

I've been keeping my own index-to-name notes. Happy to be the one who maintains that if nobody else is.

Adding a few more pixels near where this left off.

Followed the thread over and dropped some color in.

Picked a spot close by and started filling in. Curious where this ends up.

Not much to add in words, mostly just placed pixels.
